Jared Dudley defends Jason Kidd, whose influence on the Bucks’ organization has come under new scrutiny after the release of Giannis Antetokounmpo’s biography.
Mirin Fader’s book “Giannis: The Improbable Rise of an NBA MVP” reveals several instances, where Kidd was said to be heavy-handed in his treatment of Milwaukee’s players.
Dudley, who worked with Kidd in the Lakers and the Bucks, took to Twitter to defend the veteran coach, claiming that he played a huge role in creating the foundation for the Milwaukee Bucks’ title this past season.
“Jason Kidd was a great coach in Milwaukee,” Dudley wrote. “The man single-handedly (changed) the culture. One of the biggest (turnarounds) from one year to the next in NBA history. I personally saw what he did for (Khris) Middleton and Giannis. He laid the foundation for them winning the chip this year.”
Kidd’s time as the Bucks’ head coach came to an end in 2018 with the former Lakers’ assistant finishing with 47 winning percentage as the Bucks coach across four seasons.
Kidd will now have another challenge in front of him as he became the Dallas Mavericks’ head coach this offseason. He will have the chance to coach another young NBA superstar in Luka Doncic.
