The top two picks of the 2021 NBA Draft, Cade Cunningham and Jalen Green, faced off in the Summer League as the Detroit Pistons took on the Houston Rockets. It was Green’s team that won the game 111-91. Both players led their respective teams in scoring. Cunningham finished the game with 20 points while Green had 25.
After the game, Cunningham, who was the no. 1 pick by the Pistons, played down the defeat, saying the focus is on bigger things. “I know what the hype was around the game but we have bigger goals to try to reach and bigger fish to fry. This is a Summer League game; we’ve got to try to stay focused on how we can be the best that we can be for the regular season,” he said, per Rod Beard.
