Dwight Howard is back with the Los Angeles Lakers after spending the previous season in Philadelphia. The veteran big was delighted to return to LA, and f he had his way, he would have never left.

Howard came close to an agreement with the Lakers last year, with him even announcing the deal to his fans. Alas, he had to backtrack a few moments later after the Lakers signed Marc Gasol and Montrelz Harrell.

Southern California News Group’s Kyle Goon reports that Howard was “sorely disappointed” by the situation, and decided to sign with Philadelphia instead.

“…Howard felt the same way last offseason, sending out a tweet that he was excited to return after winning the 2020 title … only, he wasn’t coming back. The Lakers came to terms with Marc Gasol and Montrezl Harrell, quickly leaving Howard out in the cold.

He deleted the tweet, and a person with knowledge of Howard’s reaction told Southern California News Group at the time that he was sorely disappointed with an apparent miscommunication with the team. He signed with Philadelphia instead.”

After winning the title in 2020, Dwight Howard has the chance to repeat himself as the back-up center of the Los Angeles Lakers in the upcoming season.
