The Euroleague Basketball Disciplinary Appeals Panel on Wednesday rejected a petition from Galatasaray Liv Hospital Istanbul to mitigate sanctions imposed in December by the independent disciplinary judge concerning incidents surrounding the club’s home game with Crvena Zvezda Telekom Belgrade on last November 21, during Round 6 of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Regular Season.

The independent disciplinary judge sanctioned Galatasaray to three home games played behind closed doors, without fans, and a fine of €100,000 for the incidents generated by its fans and the failure to adopt measures to avoid disturbances. A Crvena Zvezda fan, Marko Ivkovic, was killed on his way to that night’s game.

The three-person panel reviewed all material concerning Galatasaray’s appeal in mid-January and issued a rejection of all arguments, thus sustaining the sanctions in place.
