The Summer League of the NBA returns to Las Vegas this week, as all 30 teams are getting ready for the first event of the season.

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas will host all 75 games for a 10-day period (8-17 August), where teams will play five games apiece.

After every team plays four games, the two teams with the best records from the first four games will meet in the Championship Game on Aug.17.

The annual Summer League is a great opportunity for teams’ coaching staff to check the performance of young players and especially the ones that were selected in the Draft.

After the event, some of the best players of the tournament may join the teams’ training camps ahead of the season start.

At the same time, many EuroLeague coaches attend the event in order to search for players that can adapt to the European playing style and be a great fit for their respective clubs.

The vast majority of the NBA teams have started revealing their rosters for the Summer League, which include college players that either went undrafted or were selected in the first or second round in the Draft.

The top universities, like Duke and UCLA, will have a strong represenattion in the Summer League, with several players playing for them last season.

The Denver Nuggets will have two players from the University of Illinois and North Illinois, while Illinois guard Ayo Dosunmu [Chicago Bulls – 38th pick, the school’s first draft pick since Meyers Leonard) will also be on the Bulls’ roster for the NBA Draft.

With that in mind, an Illinois betting offer is already in place from sportsbooks on the performance of the aforementioned players.

At the same time, the No.1 (Jade Cunningham – Detroit Pistons) and No.2 (Jalen Green – Houston Rockets) of the 2021 NBA Draft are expected to play in the tournament.

The Summer League will also see several free agents and players that spent the previous season overseas participate in search for an NBA contract.

It is also worth noting that this will be the first Summer League that will take place during the pandemic, therefore the NBA has already released the necessary health and safety protocols.
