Timberwolves trading Ricky Rubio to Cavaliers for Taurean Prince

The Cleveland Cavaliers are acquiring Minnesota Timberwolves guard Ricky Rubio, a 2022 second-round pick and cash for forward Taurean Prince.

Rubio was acquired by the Timberwolves last summer from the Phoenix Suns.

The Cavaliers already have Darius Garland and Collin Sexton in their backcourt, so another move will likely be looming in the near future.

It was recently reported that the Los Angeles Clippers and Boston Celtics were interested in acquiring Rubio, so the Cavaliers could look to flip him to one of those teams.

The 30-year-old is entering the final year of his current contract.

Another possible option for the Cavaliers is trading Sexton, who has been in trade rumors this offseason.

Rubio averaged 8.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, 6.4 assists and 1.4 steals per game last season and would be a welcome veteran addition to any team.

He is currently playing for Spain at the Tokyo Olympics and is averaging 20.0 points and 9.0 assists per game in two games, as Spain is 2-0 in Group C and has already advanced to the Quarter-Finals.
