Mike D’Antoni willing to return to head coaching position after parting ways with the Nets

Mike D’Antoni will no longer be an assistant coach of Steve Nash in the Brooklyn Nets, as the veteran coach has decided to move on from his position in the Nets’ coaching staff.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, D’Antoni has decided to return to a head coaching position in the future.

“Brooklyn Nets assistant Mike D’Antoni is stepping away from a full-time coaching role on Steve Nash’s staff, sources tell ESPN. D’Antoni is expected to pursue head coaching jobs again in the future. He was a finalist for the Portland opening this year,” the NBA Insider reports.

Mike D’Antoni spent the previous season with the Nets, while he has worked as head coach in the Phoenix Suns, the Los Angeles Lakers and the Houston Rockets, among others.
