Gregg Popovich on Bradley Beal’s absence from the Olympics: “It’s devastating”

Bradley Beal will not follow the rest of Team USA for the Tokyo Olympics after entering the COVID-19 health and safety protocols in Vegas.

The USA Basketball team head coach Gregg Popovich reflected on Beal’s absence from the Olympics, claiming that the team is devastated by the news.

(via NBC Sports Washington):

“As far as Bradley is concerned, I’m dying for him, we all are. Since he was a little kid, this has been a dream of his,” Popovich said. “He was playing great, he was having fun being part of us coming together chemistry-wise, it was a family. For him and his family, immediate family, it’s devastating. We just feel horrible about it.”

The U.S. is now going through the process of finding a replacement for Beal. Meanwhile, the Wizards’ superstar will have to look to the 2024 Olympics in Paris, if he wants to give it another shot.
