Team USA’s Jerami Grant has entered health and safety protocols at Team USA camp, according to Shams Charania.
The Detroit Pistons forward has not tested positive for COVID-19.
Grant, 27, joins Team USA guard Bradley Beal in the protocols in Las Vegas.
It remains unclear how much time Grant and Beal will be required to miss, but Grant could be subject to a shorter isolation period due to not testing positive.
Beal’s status on the other hand, is now more in jeopardy.
Team USA is working to replace Beal on the team’s Olympic roster before they travel to Japan, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.
This is an unfortunate development for Beal who was looking forward to representing Team USA at the Olympics and playing alongside his good friend Jayson Tatum.
Players from the select team are possible candidates to replace the 28-year-old, including Cleveland Cavaliers’ Darius Garland or San Antonio Spurs’ Keldon Johnson.
An idea has also been floated that New York Knicks’ Julius Randle might be another option to replace Beal.
Team USA plays two more scrimmages on July 16 and July 18 against Australia and Spain, respectively, before they fly to Tokyo on July 19.
They begin their Olympic tournament on July 25 against France.
*Update: USA Basketball confirms that Beal will be unable to participate in the Tokyo Olympic Games.
