LeBron James rocked the NBA when he decided to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2018 to join the Los Angeles Lakers. He has just finished his third season with the Purple and Gold and has already brought one championship to the team.

The 36-year-old star signed a two-year max contract extension with the Lakers prior to this season and should remain in Los Angeles at least through 2023.

According to James himself, he would love to finish his basketball career with his current team. The four-time NBA champion has previously said he has no timetable how long he would be able to play.

“I truly hope that I can finish my career with the Lakers,” James said on Smartless podcast, per Jasmyn Wimbish of CBS Sports. “However many years that is, if it’s four, five, six, whatever, seven. I hope I can continue to play the game. I love being in L.A., my family loves being in L.A.

Being with a historical franchise like the Lakers is something … It’s like me being in “Space Jam” — I never thought it would be possible. You think about Kareem, and Magic, and Wilt, and Jerry West and Elgin Baylor, Kobe, Shaq and all of them. The whole list goes on.”
