The world of sports has dived into digital technologies with the launch of NFTs (non-fungible tokens). An NFT is a unit of data stored on a digital ledger, called a blockchain, that certifies a digital asset to be unique and therefore not interchangeable as described by Wikipedia.
Andre Drummond is among the latest athletes to start his own NFTs project as he revealed on ESPN’s The Jump. “This project I’m going on right now it’s a one of one where I fly a fan out and their best friend, they get a chance to come out and meet me,” he said.
“We design one of my game shoes. They get to put whatever twist and turn whatever they want on the shoe I’m gonna wear it for that game. Fly them off first class pulling in a hotel they get to come see the game. And after the game I’ll hand-deliver the shoe and sign it to them.”
