Coach Mike Budenholzer’s Milwaukee Bucks had an extremely hard time dealing with Phoenix’s pick & roll offense in their 2021 NBA Finals opening loss, as the Suns took advantage of many mismatches on switches and movement on rolls to the basket. Future Hall of Famer Chris Paul took Milwaukee apart with the ball in his hands by dishing out smart assists, penetrating off the dribble, and stepping out to shoot from three point distance. During postgame, coach Bud acknowledged that his team needs to work on guarding Phoenix’s pick & roll better following CP3’s 32 points and 9 assists in Game 1.

“He’s a good player. Their pick & roll game is tough to guard. I think we just gotta keep getting better. We’ll look at the film and see how we can maybe take away some of the rhythm, or make it where he’s not getting into his spots as easily. That will be a big part of looking between Game 1 and Game 2.”
