Coach Mike Budenholzer’s Milwaukee Bucks had an extremely hard time dealing with Phoenix’s pick & roll offense in the 2021 NBA Finals opener, as the Suns took advantage of many mismatches on switches and movement on rolls to the basket. Future Hall of Famer Chris Paul took Milwaukee apart with the ball in his hands by dishing out smart assists, penetrating off the dribble, and stepping out to shoot from three point distance. During postgame, coach Bud acknowledged that his team needs to work on guarding CP3 and Phoenix’s pick & roll better following his 32 points and 9 assists in Game 1.

“Their pick & roll game is tough to guard. I think we have to just keep getting better. We have to keep looking at the film and see how we can maybe take away some of the rhythm, or make it where he’s not getting into his spots as easily. That will be a big part of looking between Game 1 and Game 2.”
