Kawhi Leonard will possibly be an unrestricted free agent this summer, as he is expected to opt out of his contract with the Clippers to pursue a more lucrative deal.

Leonard opting out of his current contract does not mean he wants out of LA, according to Michael Scotto of Hoopshype.

“Many around the league expect Leonard to opt out of his contract, but that doesn’t mean he’ll leave,” Scotto writes

“I highly doubt Leonard would leave,” an NBA executive said. “It would take another player recruiting him.”

As per recent NBA rumors, front-office executives across the league believe Kawhi Leonard will only leave the LA Clippers if another player recruits him.

Leonard will likely be inclined towards continuing with the Clippers and making a run at the NBA championship alongside Paul George.

After missing 20 regular season games, Kawhi Leonard showed up in the postseason, where in 11 playoff games for the Clippers, he averaged 30.4 points, 7.7 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 2.1 steals per game.
