Cavaliers reportedly think they could pair Jarrett Allen with Evan Mobley

Cleveland Cavaliers do not necessarily believe that drafting Evan Mobley in the upcoming NBA Draft will mean a sign-and-trade for Jarrett Allen.

According to Chris Fedor of cleveland.com, Cleveland feels Allen and Mobley can work together in the same frontcourt if the Cavs decide to choose the USC product in the 2021 NBA Draft.

“Sources say the Cavs believe Mobley can thrive at 4 or 5. That versatility would give head coach J.B. Bickerstaff some intriguing lineup combinations. When Mobley’s not playing alongside Allen, the youngster could assume backup center minutes, especially if the organization can’t work something out with Isaiah Hartenstein, who is expected to decline his player option.”

Allen is a restricted free agent this offseason and could fetch offer sheets north of five years and $100 million. It only remains to be seen if the Cavs will put their chips to a front-court player in the upcoming draft, which will take place one month from now.
