The Portland Trail Blazers completed their search for a new head coach after parting ways with Terry Stotts. Former NBA star Chauncey Billups is set to take over the team.
Billups was reportedly one of the candidates that had support of the Blazers star Damian Lillard. The other was Jason Kidd who eventually removed his name from Portland job after Dame said he would like to be coached by him.
A Twitter user claimed that the Blazers were going to follow Lillard’s wish and that the names of other candidates, namely Becky Hammon and Mike D’Antoni, were put out to limit negative reaction.
Lillard did not agree with that notion. “Really? I was asked what coaches I like of the names I “heard” and I named them. Sorry I wasn’t aware of their history I didn’t read the news when I was 7/8yrs old. I don’t support Those things … but if this the route y’all wana come at me… say less” he tweeted in response.
