Real Madrid longtime captain Felipe Reyes officially retires

Real Madrid legendary captain Felipe Reyes officially retired from basketball, the team announced Wednesday. The Whites will hold a ceremonial farewell by the club, with the presence of president Florentino Perez Thursday.

Reyes joined Real Madrid in 2004 and never played for another team since then. He won two EuroLeague championship titles, seven Spanish League championship titles, six Spanish Copa del Rey titles and five Supercup titles.

He also had an illustrious career as part of the Spain NT as Reyes won the gold medal in the 2006 World Cup the silver medals in the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games and the Olympic bronze in 2016.

Reyes is also a three-time EuroBasket champion with Spain, while he won the silver medal in two occasions and bronze in one occasion.

Madrid’s big man was also a part of EuroLeague First-Team in 2015, while he was named Spanish League and Finals MVP twice earning four selections to the All-ACB First Team.
