Carmelo Anthony is set to become an unrestricted free agent this coming offseason. The 37-year-old forward spent the last two years with the Portland Trail Blazers.

An NBA scout recently said that Melo would be a very good fit for the Los Angeles Lakers. Now, another report from NBA Analysis Network, suggests that the Purple and Gold are expected to pursue Anthony in free agency.

He could come as a replacement for Kyle Kuzma who is likely to be moved. Anthony is good friend of LeBron James and could be interested in an opportunity to win a championship before retiring.

Both LeBron and Melo entered the league in 2003. Despite being on several different teams, they have never played together in the NBA.

This past season Anthony averaged 13.4 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 24.5 minutes per game for the Trail Blazers.
