Celtics to have second interviews with multiple coaches

The Boston Celtics are seeking second interviews with Brooklyn Nets’ Ime Udoka, Milwaukee Bucks’ Darvin Ham and Los Angeles Clippers’ Chauncey Billups, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Celtics’ search, led by President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens, continues to focus in the assistant ranks.

Udoka is in his first season on Steve Nash’s staff after spending one year as an assistant with the Philadelphia 76ers and seven years with the San Antonio Spurs.

The 43-year-old has received strong reviews from Celtics players who played for the U.S. National team in the 2019 FIBA World Cup.

Udoka was an assistant on national team coach Gregg Popovich’s staff.

Ham is considered one of the top head coaching candidates among league assistants and has interviewed for several head coaching jobs in the past two years, notes Wojnarowski.

The 47-year-old has been on Mike Budenholzer’s staff for the last three years and also spent five years with the Atlanta Hawks from 2013-2018.

He began his coaching career as an assistant with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2011.

Billups is in his first season as an assistant on Tyronn Lue’s staff after spending time as a TV broadcaster and studio analyst for ESPN.

The 44-year-old is a prominent candidate for the Portland Trail Blazers head coach vacancy.
