Damian Lillard has told USA Basketball officials that he will play for the national team in this summer’s Tokyo Olympics, per Associated Press.
Team USA is expected to announce its roster in the coming weeks. This will be Lillard’s first participation in the Olympic Games.
He averaged 28.8 points this season with the Portland Trail Blazers. Team USA is seeking their fourth consecutive gold medal.
San Antonio’s Gregg Popovich will coach the team, assisted by Golden State coach Steve Kerr, Villanova coach Jay Wright and former Atlanta coach Lloyd Pierce.
