Update: Clippers fear Kawhi Leonard has ACL injury

The Los Angeles Clippers fear that star Kawhi Leonard has suffered an ACL injury, according to Shams Charania.

Leonard is out indefinitely with what was diagnosed as a right knee sprain.

It was previously announced that Leonard would miss Game 5 tonight against the Utah Jazz and his status for the rest of the series was in doubt as well.

The 29-year-old suffered the right knee injury after landing awkwardly on a drive to the basket in the fourth quarter of Game 4.

While it hasn’t officially been announced, Leonard will likely undergo an MRI to determine the extent of the injury and if there’s any damage to the ACL.

A torn ACL would be the worst case scenario for Leonard and the Clippers.

Leonard will be the eighth All-Star to miss at least one game in these playoffs, according to Elias Sports Bureau, which is a new NBA record.

He joins Anthony Davis, Joel Embiid, Jaylen Brown, Donovan Mitchell, Mike Conley, James Harden and Kyrie Irving on that list.

Leonard was averaging 27.3 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game in the series against the Jazz.
