The future of Andre Drummond remains unclear. The 27-year-old center joined the Los Angeles Lakers as a free agent to take the role of the team’s starting center.

However, his minutes were reducing during the playoff games. Drummond did not get any minutes in the do-or-die game for the Lakers as they were eliminated by the Suns.

Whether Drummond stays with the Lakers next year will depend on whether he accepts a veteran minimum offer from them. Otherwise, he will be playing elsewhere.

Via Jovan Buha of The Athletic:

“Drummond is an archaic archetype, one that doesn’t translate well to the postseason as a starter. The Lakers pumped him up all season only to bench him in their biggest game of the season. His future is somewhat tied to [Marc] Gasol and [Montrezl] Harrell, both of whom will be covered below. But unless he’s willing to accept a veteran minimum offer, or one of the Lakers’ available exceptions, depending on who they renounce and re-sign, Drummond will likely be elsewhere on opening night 2021.”

Drummond averaged 11.9 points,13.7 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1 block in 24.8 minutes per game for the Lakers during regular season. His numbers dropped to 9 points, 11 rebounds in 20.8 minutes over five playoff games.
