Jazz’s Mike Conley out for Game 1

Utah Jazz guard Mike Conley is out for Game 1 against the Los Angeles Clippers with a right hamstring strain, the team announced.

Conley felt tightness in the hamstring in the first quarter of Game 5 against the Memphis Grizzlies on June 2 and was ruled out at halftime.

The 33-year-old partially participated in Monday’s practice and he was originally listed as questionable, but the team ultimately ruled him out after shootaround this morning.

Head coach Quin Snyder knows Conley’s presence will be missed and he expects the Clippers to stay with a small lineup to pull Rudy Gobert away from the rim defensively.

“There’s really no mystery to that,” said Snyder.

“Hopefully we get him [Conley] back as quickly as possible, but those things are tricky,” he added.

Conley averaged 17.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 8.6 assists per game in the first-round against the Grizzlies.

Joe Ingles will likely replace him in the starting lineup.

Conley’s next chance to play will come in Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals on June 10.
