76ers’ Dwight Howard says Joel Embiid should be ‘good to go’ for Game 1 vs. Hawks

Joel Embiid’s status is still uncertain for the start of the series between the Philadelphia 76ers and Atlanta Hawks, however, Dwight Howard thinks his superstar teammate will be ready for Sunday’s Game 1.

“(Embiid) looked good,” Howard said after Friday’s practice, according to the Bucks Country Courier Times’ Tom Moore. “His movement looked good laterally. I think he should be ready to go, (but) we don’t want to rush him back. … He looked like his old self.”

Embiid missed Game 5 versus the Washington Wizards due to a small meniscus tear in his right knee. Even without their best players, the 76ers were able to close out the series and advance to the second round with a commanding 129-112 win.

The Sixers will face the Hawks on Sunday for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals. The Hawks advanced past the Knicks despite playing three out of their 5 games away from home.
