Great Britain international Devon van Oostrum has signed for British Basketball League side Leeds Force on loan from Laboral Kutxa.
It is understood that the move is on a ‘game-by-game basis’.
The move will be van Oostrum’s third move of the season, having played five games for KK Cibona in the Adriatic League, where he averaged 2.2 points a game and with Korisliga club Kouvot Kouvola, where he averaged 4 points in a brief four-week stint.
Dutch-born van Oostrum last played in the BBL back in 2009, when he was bit part player for the Sheffield Sharks before he exploded onto the scene with the GB junior program before impressing on the senior stage.
The 21-year-old averaged 7.2 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists in five games for the Brits at Eurobasket 2013.
“Signing a player of Devon’s caliber is a great endorsement to the environment we are creating at the club,” said Leeds coach Matt Newby. “We are privileged to have the opportunity, and it is a great deal for both parties.
“As an individual he has an extensive resume and I hope he will draw on those experiences to add to both our game day and practice culture.
“He has the ability not only to bring scoring to the team but also facilitate others and I hope we can maximise both sides of his game, as it could well be the difference in not just competing but vying for a playoff spot.”
van Oostrum has been given international clearance and will make his Force debut when they entertain Plymouth Raiders on Friday night.
