Dennis Schroder sparked speculations about his future with his latest move on social media as he deleted reference to the Los Angeles Lakers from his bio on Instagram. Though his comments after a season-ending loss against the Phoenix Suns indicate his desire to remain with the defending NBA champions.

The 27-year-old point guard expressed intention to work on his comeback next season to give the Lakers faithful the success they deserve. “We’re going to be back. I’mma work my a*s off to come back here, to give everything because we owe them fans one,” Schroder said. “I want to win a championship. I’mma work my a*s off this summer and come back and be me.”

When asked directly if his comments mean that he intends to stay with the Lakers, Schroder was straight forward. “I don’t know I’ve read so many things on Instagram. At the end of the day this is my 8th season in the NBA and I just wanted to make my own decision. One time that I can decided where I want to go. I mean, just to say I want to resign with the Lakers or I want to go somewhere else. That’s the only thing.

“Lakers they didn’t do nothing to me, they’re great, got the top two players in the league. Everybody in the locker room is great. So at the end of the day, like I said, I want to be here and win a championship. That’s not even a question. And it wasn’t about money because everybody who knows it’s not about money either. Of course you want to be fair. But at the end of the day not everything is about money for me and my family. At the end of the day if everything’s good, we’re going to come back and win a championship next year.”

In his first season with the Lakers, the German point guard averaged 15.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game. He is set to become an unrestricted free agent in the summer.

Despite expressing his wish to remain with the Purple and Gold, he has previously rejected a contract offer from the Lakers worth $84 million.
