76ers Joel Embiid out with a meniscus injury for Game 5 vs. Wizards

Philadelphia 76ers superstar Joel Embiid will not be available for Game 5 of the series vs. the Washington Wizards. Embiid was diagnosed with a small lateral meniscus tear in his right knee.

He’s listed as day-to-day moving forward. The Sixers could close out the series Wednesday after taking a 3-1 lead in the first four games of the series.

Embiid exited with what the team labeled a right knee soreness late in the first quarter of Monday’s 122-114 Game 4 loss to the Wizards.

The MVP candidate averages 24.0 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists in four NBA playoff games shooting 63.5 percent from the field and 46.2 percent from deep.
