Kentavious Caldwell-Pope struggled with his shot during the first two first-round series games against the Phoenix Suns. The 28-year-old guard had 2/13 field goals and 1/11 three-pointers.

Despite being scoreless in Game 2, KCP had the best plus/minus on the Los Angeles Lakers roster. Ahead of Game 3, head coach Frank Vogel was asked about the guard’s role going forward.

“It depends how well we move the ball and if he gets shots in the rhythm in offense. They’re the ones we want him to take and make,” Vogel said. “We do not want him to force but obviously remain confident which he does. Some nights he’s going to have a lot more opportunities and some nights he’s not.

“His primary role is to defend and to run the floor and provide that spacing when double teams come. Some nights there’s gonna be a lot of shots, some nights there’s not. But we just want him to remain confident which he does.”
