Several Pelicans players aren’t ‘vibing’ with Stan Van Gundy, per report

New Orleans Pelicans had a disappointing season after remaining away from the postseason for another year. Prior to the beginning of the regular season, New Orleans was expected to be in the mix for the playoffs with Stan Van Gundy at their bench.

However, the Pelicans had many ups and downs during the season being unable to find consistency on the floor, especially on the defensive end.

According to Sam Amick of the Athletic, several Pelicans’ players had issues with Stan Van Gundy during the season that ended up with the Pelicans having a 31-41 record.

“In New Orleans, the players are not vibing with the coach,” Amick said on KHTK radio, via Scott Kushner of NOLA.com. “There are issues there.”

Van Gundy was hired last offseason to replace Alvin Gentry after the Pelicans failed once again to make the postseason. They were plenty of expectations with Van Gundy in place.

The experienced head coach brought three different teams in the playoffs during his career including an NBA Finals run with the Orlando Magic back at 2009.
