Frank Vogel on why he didn’t play Marc Gasol in Game 1 vs. Suns

Marc Gasol fell out of rotation for the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 1 loss to the Phoenix Suns. According to head coach Frank Vogel, he decided that other lineups would do better in that particular situation.

“That game [regular season game vs. Suns] we played Marc and Trezz together which is a lineup we’re not that familiar with. I decided in Game 1 not to use that lineup. I’ve confidence in all three of our centers and AD at the five.

“If I don’t go to a certain player or a certain lineup, a lot of times it’s not because of that player it’s just the confidence in another player or another lineup. And that’s the case in Marc not playing in Game 1.”
