Trae Young experienced his first playoff game in his NBA career at Madison Square Garden vs. the New York Knicks. The All-Star guard was the catalyst for the Hawks hitting the winning shot with 0.5 remaining at the clock.
After the game, Young claimed he was expecting to hear “F-you chants” from the crowd, admitting he is comfortable at the role of the villain in New York.
“I definitely know the history of players coming in here and being hated,” Young said, per ESPN’s Andrew Lopez. “Like I said, I take that as a compliment to be honest with you.
Obviously, I’m doing something right if you hate me that much. I embrace it and try to focus on my team and trying to help my team win. At the end of the day, we’ll get the last laugh if we do that.”
Young was unstoppable in MSG going for 32 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds as the Hawks are leading the series 1-0.
Both teams will face again each other on Wednesday night at Maddison Square Garden for Game 2 of the Eastern Conference opening round series.
