Chris Paul had to leave the court temporarily in Game 1 against the Los Angeles Lakers due to a right shoulder injury. He was able to return later. The 36-year-old star played a total of 36 minutes during which he had 7 points, 4 rebounds and 8 assists as his team earned the victory.

After the game, Suns head coach Monty Williams was asked about Paul’s injury. “I don’t know the particulars of what happened. I was so locked into the game I just know he was sore,” he said. “I talked to him briefly just now and his words to me was he was okay and he’ll be okay going forward.

“But he was pretty sore when he came back but him playing today gave us a lot of juice, a lot of energy. It was inspirational to watch him out there giving his all on both ends of the floor. We’ll have something more official as we go forward but right now I don’t have much.”
