Donovan Mitchell out for Utah’s playoff opener vs. Grizzlies

Utah Jazz will face the Memphis Grizzlies for Game 1 of the first round of the playoffs without their superstar Donovan Mitchell.

Mitchell is still recovering from a sprained right ankle that kept him out since April 16. The Jazz will face the Grizzlies, who are coming off an overtime win over Stephen Curry and the Warriors to secure the 8th seed.

The Jazz need Mitchell to raise their hopes for an NBA title entering the postseason with the best record in the NBA. In the meantime, Mike Conley, Jordan Clarkson and Joe Ingles are expected to be the main ball-handlers for Game 1.

The Jazz are set to face the Grizzlies Sunday night. It’s still unclear if Mitchell will be available for Game 2 of the series, which takes place on Wednesday.
