Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell practiced for the first time since he sprained his ankle in mid-April.

Mitchell said “barring any setbacks,” the goal is to play in Game 1 of the team’s first round playoff matchup on May 23.

The sprained ankle suffered on April 16 caused the 24-year-old to miss the last 16 games of the regular season.

Mitchell also mentioned that his ankle injury wasn’t as minor as it was made out to be and it was sore today after practice, but there is no real lingering pain.

The two-time All-Star averaged 26.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 5.2 assists this season and shot 43.8 percent from the field and 38.6 percent from three-point.

The Jazz, who are the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference, will play the eventual No. 8 seed, who will be the winner of the play-in game between the Memphis Grizzlies and Golden State Warriors.

In the regular season, the Jazz went 3-0 against the Grizzlies and 1-2 against the Warriors.
