Anthony Davis: “Drum was dominant tonight in the minutes that he played”

Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel chose to play Anthony Davis as a center in a play-in game against the Golden State Warriors. As a result of that, the other centers on the team saw less playing time.

The team’s starting center Andre Drummond played 17 minutes, as he scored 4 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. After the game, Davis shared his thoughts on Drummond’s performance.

“Drum was dominant tonight in the minutes that he played,” AD said. “They’re just a special group. They Draymond a lot at the five with four guards. It kind of put us at a little disadvantage on the defensive end. Drum and I aren’t used to those rotations and things like that. And we just made an adjustment.

“The good thing about our team everyone knows their role. We make an adjustment mid-game where we go small and I’m at the five no one’s complaining, no one is upset because at the end of the day it’s all about winning. He understood that, he understood no problem. He’s up on the bench cheering for us and helping us out with what is his perspective on the floor.

“And we did get the win. Locker room is great. We got a great group of guys to kind of understand that same way as it was last year. It might be other games where we do the same thing. It might be games where we go big with Drum at the five and I’m at the four. It’s all about matchups and tonight was one of those nights.”
