Boston Celtics big Robert Williams suffered a toe injury, and he will be out indefinitely, according to head coach Brad Stevens.

As a result, Williams was ruled out for tonight’s game vs. Chicago Bulls. Stevens has not set an initial return date for Williams as the Celtics are hoping to avoid the play-in tournament.

“He’s meeting with specialists and figuring out the best method of attack,” head coach Brad Stevens said. “I don’t know what his availability will be like any time in the next week.”

Stevens explained the situation around Williams’ injury, as he expects Tristan Thompson to cover for him until he comes back.

“Turf toe is an interesting one. For anybody that’s ever had it, it’s a nuisance, it’s a difficult thing to deal with,” Stevens said.

Luke Kornet and Tacko Fall are also going to receive an uptick in their minutes with Williams out. The Celtics are facing the Bulls tonight with Jaylen Brown also unavailable.
