Magic coach Steve Clifford cleared to return to team Wednesday

Orlando Magic head coach Steve Clifford has cleared NBA health and safety protocols after previously testing positive for COVID-19, the team announced.

While Clifford won’t return to coach tonight against the Detroit Pistons, he will return May 5 against the Boston Celtics and coach the final seven games of the regular season.

Clifford has received both doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, getting the second dose on April 22, the day he tested positive.

A person is not yet considered fully vaccinated until two weeks have passed since the final dose, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention protocols.

In Clifford’s absence, the Magic have gone 2-3 under interim coach Tyrone Corbin.
