Nizhny and Bagatskis agree to 1-year contract extension

Nizhny Novgorod coach Ainars Bagatskis has signed a one-year extension on his contract, keeping him with the Russian side until the end of the 2015-16 season, agent Obrad Fimic says.

The Latvian playcaller is currently in his first full season as coach of the Euroleague newcomers, and has guided them to the Top 16 with a 5-5 record in the regular season.

Nizhny also currently lie in third place in the VTB League on a 10-2 record, just behind Khimki and leaders CSKA Moscow.

Previously, the Latvian has had spells in charge of Zalgiris and has had two seasons with Budivielnik Kiev, with his second season coaching the Ukrainian side in the Euroleague.

Bagatskis has also been the head coach of the Latvian national team since 2010.
