76ers will remain interested in Kyle Lowry this offseason

The Philadelphia 76ers still plan to pursue Toronto Raptors guard Kyle Lowry in free agency via a possible sign-and-trade, according to Sam Amick and John Hollinger of The Athletic.

The 76ers are projected to be over the salary cap, as Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and Tobias Harris will account for more than $100 million in 2021-22.

As a result, a sign-and-trade will likely be their main option if they want to land Lowry.

Veteran guard George Hill, who the 76ers acquired at the trade deadline from the Oklahoma City Thunder, could also be included in a potential sign-and-trade.

Lowry, 35, is expected to be a highly coveted target on the free agent market.

“Really good,” one general manager told The Athletic when asked about Lowry’s market. “There’s teams with money and not a lot of players, so I think he’s going to do really well.”

The Raptors are still expected to make an attempt to re-sign Lowry and the Miami Heat are also expected to make a run at him, as they will have enough cap space.

This season, Lowry is averaging 16.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, 7.3 assists and 1.0 steal per game, while shooting 43.0 percent from the field in 34.7 minutes per game.
