Dennis Schroder had a double-double of 21 points and 10 assists helping the Los Angeles Lakers defeat the Orlando Magic 114-103. Lakers head coach Frank Vogel was pleased with the German point guard and the development that he sees from him.

“He’s really growing particularly with his floor general mentality and running the team,” Vogel said postgame. “10 assists, 2 turnovers, 21 points. Seemed it control and comfortable in the pick and roll game and getting everybody involved. Obviously he’s an elite defender too. Great performance by Dennis tonight.”

Vogel also talked about Schroder’s role when LeBron James returns to action. “Obviously when Bron takes the reins back you’re gonna have Dennis as an attacking scorer and comfortable in that situation as well,” he said.

“And the Bron goes to the bench and Dennis is back in the comfort zone of what the way he’s grown over the last whatever month or six weeks whatever it’s been. So definitely a positive and hopefully when it all comes together we’re going to come together at the right time.”

This season, Schroder is averaging 15.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game for the reigning NBA champions.
