Frank Vogel on Lakers’ second half collapse vs. Mavericks

The Los Angeles Lakers lost their second game in a row to the Dallas Mavericks. After holding a 12-point lead at halftime, the reigning NBA champions scored just 35 points in the entire second half and ended up losing the game 93-108.

After the game Lakers head coach Frank Vogel shared his thoughts on why his team had such a poor second half. “Just too perimeter oriented,” he said.

“We didn’t attack the rim, putting up pressure on the rim enough through out the half. That’s what we were talking about during our timeouts.

“They make it difficult. They put five in the paint. They try to take that away, make you beat them over the top. We got some clean looks out there but just shot the ball horrifically four for ten in the fourth quarter and four for twenty four overall. You have to take what the defense gives you but we didn’t put up pressure on the rim.”
