Brad Stevens has repeatedly denied any rumors linking him up to the Indiana University head coach position. However, Andrian Wojnarowski reported that the Celtics’ HC received a huge offer to return to the NCAA.

(via Bleacher Report):

“[Stevens] publicly … came out to say that he was not interested in that Indiana University job that opened a few weeks ago,” Wojnarowski began. “I was told that Indiana was prepared to offer him seven years, $70 million.”

Wojnarowski finished his comments as follows: “But he did not entertain it. Leaving the Boston Celtics for a college job, it doesn’t make sense. He’s in that high-six-, low-seven-million-dollar-year range anyway.”

Indiana eventually ended up signing New York Knicks’ assistant coach Mike Woodson, another coach with strong ties to Indiana.

Stevens led Butler University to two national championship appearances before joining Boston in 2013. The Celtics made six playoff appearances under Stevens being among the best teams in the East the last 5-6 years.
