Suns’ Devin Booker on not being in the MVP conversation: “More interested in getting the 1-seed”

Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns are among the huge surprises in the NBA this season. Booker had a monstrous performance against the Utah Jazz Wednesday in the matchup between the 1-seed and the 2-seed in the West.

After his 35-point game, Booker was asked about his thoughts on the fact that he is not in the MVP discussion despite his stellar performances this season.

“I’m more worried about getting these wins and more interested in getting the 1-seed in the West and playing in my first playoff appearance. That’s my main mindset. Whatever happens out in the world, that’s on everybody else.”

The Suns prevailed in the matchup against the Jazz grabbing the 117-113 action-packed overtime win. Booker ended up scoring 35 points along with four rebounds and three assists in 44 minutes of play.

Chris Paul, who praised Booker after the game, followed with a huge performance adding 29 points, nine assists and four rebounds helping the Suns improve to 36-14 and close the gap to 1.5 games behind the top-seeded Utah.
