Kevin Durant on his performance vs. Pelicans: “I wasn’t trying to ease into the game”

Kevin Durant had a stellar performance in his limited time on the court during the Brooklyn Nets’ blowout victory over the New Orleans Pelicans.

The Nets’ superstar remained on the floor for 19 minutes to score 17 points, on a perfect 5-of-5 from the field. He also added seven rebounds and five assists.

“I expected to come out here and play the way I played,” Durant said postgame. “I wasn’t trying to ease into the game. I just wanted to go out there and dive right into the action.”

The Nets are still expected to be cautious as Durant came back for almost a two-month absence due to a hamstring injury.

Steve Nash did not insert Durant in the starting lineup, as the Nets’ superstar finally entered the game with 7:37 left in the first half.

He ended up playing 19 minutes having a great impact in Brooklyn’s play as the New York franchise blew out the undermanned Pelicans.
