Former Chicago Bulls superstar and current owner of the Charlotte Hornets, Michael Jordan, has come in at No 1,931 on Forbes’ list of the richest people in the world this year. Jordan is said to have a net worth of $1.6 billion, with the majority of his wealth coming from his ownership of the Hornets and his Jordan brand.
The Hornets are valued at $1.5 billion on the back of MJ selling a minority stake in the team in 2019. Jordan’s net worth was $2.1 billion in 2020 but it is believed the $500 million loss was partly due to GameStop stock.
The basketball legend was among a number of persons to invest in NBA Top Shot last month, having participated in the company’s latest round of funding that netted them $305 million.
