Vincent Poirier was one of the trade pieces the Philadelphia 76ers involved in the deal to bring George Hill to the team. The Sixers gave up second-round picks, Tony Bradley, Terrance Ferguson and Vincent Poirier in a multi-team trade.
The center from France got waived by the Knicks after the deadline along with Ferguson. Poirier expressed his disappointment with Sixers’ head coach Doc Rivers’ behavior after the trade was finalized.

“The coach didn’t even send me a message although I know he sent others. I’m not asking him to give me compliments but just a message to wish me good luck. We are not commodities, we are still human beings.
It’s a minimum of sending a message, to say that the situation was complicated, but thank you for your professionalism. A bogus thing, even if he doesn’t really mean it.”
Poirier did not find his place in the league during his two-year stint wit the Boston Celtics and the Philadelphia 76ers. He played just 130 minutes for the Celtics in his first NBA season, and was released during the offseason.
He was signed by the Sixers for the minimum having an even smaller role in Doc Rivers’ rotation playing just 39 minutes for Philadelphia.
Prior to his NBA journey, Poirier had a great season with EuroLeague side Baskonia averaging 11.9 points and 8.3 rebounds in the competition during the 2017-18 season campaign.
