Zion Williamson reportedly suffers sprained thumb vs. Celtics; Pelicans avoid major scare

Zion Williamson suffered a sprained thumb injury during the New Orleans’ game vs. the Boston Celtics. The Pelicans initially worried that the sophomore superstar would have to miss several weeks.

However, according to ESPN’s Adrian Lopez, Williamson avoided a major scare as he ‘shouldn’t miss much – if any – time’.

Williamson is having an excellent season for the Pelicans being one of the most dominant players inside the paint. Through 44 games, Williamson is averaging over 26 points on a ridiculous 62.4 percent shooting.

The Pelicans are in the race for the play-in tournament spots being only a game-and-a-half behind the Golden State Warriors for the 10 seed in the Western Conference.
