Celtics acquiring Evan Fournier from Magic

The Boston Celtics and Orlando Magic are finalizing a deal that will send Evan Fournier to the Celtics in exchange for a pair of second round picks, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

Fournier will provide the Celtics with perimeter shooting and wing depth behind Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, as they look to maintain a spot in the playoffs and make an eventual playoff push.

The Celtics don’t currently have an open roster spot, so they will need to clear a spot for Fournier before the trade can be finalized.

The 28-year-old is on an expiring contract, but the Celtics will have the opportunity to re-sign him in the offseason.

Fournier is averaging 19.7 points (career-high), 2.9 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game, while shooting 46.1 percent from the field and 38.8 percent from three-point.

The Magic have entered rebuilding mode, as they have now traded away Fournier and All-Star center Nikola Vucevic and are collecting several future draft picks in the deals.

Aaron Gordon will be the next player traded from the Magic.

*Update: The Magic are acquiring Jeff Teague from the Celtics to complete the Fournier trade, according to Josh Robbins of The Athletic.

Teague, 32, has been told that he doesn’t have to report to the Magic, as he will be waived by the team.
