Sixers reportedly interested in adding a starting caliber guard ahead of trade deadline

Philadelphia 76ers will aggressively pursue a starting caliber guard ahead of the trade deadline as they are looking to improve their roster for the postseason.

The Sixers appear to be interested in Kyle Lowry, Lonzo Ball and George Hill as the team is approaching the March 25th trade deadline.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnaworski, Lowry is the top target for the Sixers, however Daryl Morey could also look elsewhere to find a starting-caliber guard for his team.

“Philadelphia has discussed separate deals with Toronto on both Lowry and Powell, sources said. The Sixers have also inquired about other available guards on the marketplace, including Oklahoma City’s George Hill and New Orleans’ Lonzo Ball, sources said,” Woj wrote.

All those players are expected to be free agents next summer, and if the Sixers want to remain at play as title contenders for years to come, they will likely have to sign their potential target in a long-term deal.

Powell is easily having the best season of his career. He’s averaging 19.5 points per game while shooting 43.4 percent from deep on 6.5 attempts a night.

Ball is shooting the lights out this season averaging a career-high 38.5-percent on 7.8 attempts per game with the New Orleans Pelicans.

Finally, Lowry and Hill could offer their veteran leadership in the young Sixers’ perimeter helping with their passing and their shooting as two players with plenty of experience in the postseason.
