Lakers’ Frank Vogel sees LeBron James absence as a ‘growth opportunity’ for Talen Horton-Tucker

Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel sees LeBron James’ and Anthony Davis’ injuries as an opportunity for other members of the squad to grow in bigger roles.

The same goes for the Lakers’ second-year player Talen Horton-Tucker, who is expected to receive a boost in his playtime with LeBron James out.

(via Lakers Nation):

“It’s a great growth opportunity,” Vogel said. “He makes a lot of things happen off the bounce, getting to the paint. He’s not always perfect with his reads. He’s a young player, but that’s what you get with a young player. I just like his aggressiveness and he’s really going to grow during this stretch.”

This season, Horton-Tucker has been a legitimate role player for the Lakers showing already the ability to perform for the reigning NBA champions.

Horton-Tucker is averaging 8.1 points, 2.3 assists, and 2.7 rebounds in 18.3 minutes per game. He already has 39 appearances with the ‘purple-and-gold’ this season.
