Derrick Rose says COVID-19 ordeal was like the flu “times 10”

Rose has urged people to take the pandemic more seriously.

New York Knicks point guard Derrick Rose has claimed having COVID-19 was like having a flu 10 times over. Rose, who has been out since February, confirmed he struggled with the respiratory illness on Monday, having gotten cleared to face the Washington Wizards on the night.

“It’s real. The COVID thing, I know a lot of people overlook it but it’s very serious. It’s real,” the 32-year-old told reporters, per Bleacher Report. “I had the flu. It was nothing like the flu…It was that times 10.”

Rose revealed his family members, including his kids, were all diagnosed with COVID-19.

The Knicks went 7-3 after acquiring him from the Detroit Pistons in February but have gone 3-5 without him in the lineup. Rose averaged 12.5 points and 4.9 assists per game in 10 games for New York.
